Belle Derks is professor of Social and Organizational Psychology at Utrecht University. She is designated chair ‘Psychological Perspectives on Organisational Behaviour within Institutions’. After receiving her PhD from Leiden University in 2007, she was an assistant and associate professor there until moving to Utrecht in 2015.
Belle’s research focuses on issues concerning social identity threat, minority status and the consequences of negative stereotypes among women and other minorities in work and educational contexts. For her research she acquired several grants, such as the NWO VENI (2008) and NWO VIDI (2015). She is currently associate editor for the British Journal of Social Psychology. In 2016 she was selected as member of the Dutch Young Academy (the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences).
